Well the past few days were a little challenging with the Hercules Blizzard of 2014! I needed to get my mileage in for the marathon training and for the Winter Warrior Challenge. It all began on Thursday. I woke up at 5 am to get my run in before work, since I already knew I was working a double due to the weather. It was just starting to snow. It was so peaceful and beautiful. What a great way to start the day. I even brought the most loyal man in my life, my golden retriever Jack.
Friday I walked Jack two miles in almost a foot of snow. It was bitterly cold, dark and windy. Saturday I was supposed to run 12-14 miles but only managed 5 1/2 miles due to the fact that there was no where safe to run.
Sunday was the fifth race in the Cape Cod Athletic Club Grand Prix. The race was in Bourne, 5 miles and quite hilly. The temperature was perfect and I felt ready seeing as though I did not get all my miles in the previous day. So many members had a great runs and one even broke a course record for her age group. This brings me to my new friends. I have really embraced running with the Cape Cod Athletic Club. Last year I was so intimidated by them. They are amazing runners, strong and fast. I have learned so much in the past six months running with them and my times have improved a lot. I look forward to training with them on the Service Road starting this week. Thanks for including me in your training group and saving me 4 hours every Saturday. In 2012 I drove to the Boston Area every Saturday for group runs. Here’s a few pictures.
My fundraising is moving right along. I am at $1490. Who’s going to help me hit $2000 by the end of January??
Thank you to Terri Bunce and Bill and Tracy Long for their generation donations this week!!!
